jekyll island georgia pictures

actually, thatapos;s not true. I am in kansas while Iapos;m writing this. Some stuff from my first driving day:

1. Nostalgia Ville, USA. Really this is just a shop full of old crap but it was fun to spend a couple of minutes looking at all of the pepsi/coke/john deere/beety boop/elvis, etc. Junk. And I bought a Route 66 sign.

2. I didnapos;t have much else to say about missouri so letapos;s move on to kansas. I stopped in Lawrence (home of the 2008 Orange Bowl Champions, according to the sign) to check out the visitor center. Really I wanted to take a picture of myself in front of a kansas sign or map. They didnapos;t have one :-(

3. Kansas has trees East Coast mentality again... I had no idea kansas was anything other than farmland/prairies. Maybe Iapos;m not in the right part of kansas yet.

4. I started seeing signs for Oz so I took a detour. Wamego, KS is home to many interesting Oz attractions. Got a picture with the tinman. Wanted to eat at Totoapos;s Tacoz but they were closed because it was a Sunday.

5. Kansas doesnapos;t sell beer on Sundays :-(

6. Kansas is home to the Worldapos;s Largest Ball of Twine but Iapos;m not going to be able to visit on this trip (or probably ever, which I think is ok).

7. I made the stupid mistake of packing my prescription on the moving truck. This has been a bitch to try to refill. So far west kansas doesnapos;t have this particular drug, which I had no idea was so rare. Next I will try my luck in Denver and let you know.

8. I made a dentist appointment at home during Thanksgiving and my Texas dentist is transferring my records, no problem. I get amazed when things go easy.

9. Salina is said like saliva where v = n.
