Manic times in my house o.O

Iapos;ve rearranged Rubyapos;s room to be half nursery half her playroom still. Toddler bed is now next to our bed. Sheapos;s in it about 50 Iapos;d say. This next week I am going to be more insistant she fall asleep in it.

The ladies at my work held a shower for me :) So nice. My best work friend got me like 3 yards of this flannel, except with a more cream.natural background:

I now have a red gingham crib sheet and a denim dust ruffle. Its looking more "boyish" and ready so that is making me feel slightly more at ease. I think I am going to take the flannel and cut up a bunch of our old jeans and make a rag quilt and a few pillows to match. Something like this:

Iapos;ve also seen an entire rug made from denim. So thatskind of exciting. Ican definately afford toscronge up our old jeans or get them for $1 at the thrift store.

Tthey also got me an infant car seat that is grey black so no pink trip home for the boy The base is alsothe least wide they make so I hope all 3 kids will be able to buckle in the back seat. I sure wish I could turn off the airbag in the front so Gabi could ride up there without terrible visions of a crash in my head.

Still so much to do. And then to have people over for Thanksgiving. Urgh. Iapos;m almost hoping to go into laborjust so I donapos;t have to cook an entire family feast. Donapos;t get me wrong, Ilove cooking for the holidays, but I am so friggen pregnant the idea of going to Golden Corral is sounding better and better. I think my family would DIE though. Chris was already talking about all my yummy recipes and how he canapos;t wait to eat this or that. *sigh*

Listening to old band music makes me (a) wish I had the opportunity to be in a large musical ensemble with a strong community, (b) realize just how long ago it was that I was obsessed with the clarinet, and (c) make me feel sort of old in general.

I know I write about this once every few months or so, but itapos;s hard for me not to reflect on music when it was once such an integral part of my life. I couldapos;ve gone to music school had I pursued CYSO over academics. I might still be a huge music nerd, with knowledge of all kinds of crazy theory, by now. I might not be at Grinnell.

These things are interesting to ponder. I was thinking, the other day, that if I go to grad school after college maybe I will find the motivation/guts in me to audition for a band there. Perhaps thatapos;s another (slightly) compelling reason to go to grad school . . . Iapos;ll add it to the list.*

Also, screw visa applications. Could they be more time consuming and complicated?

Smelly cleats are gross. I am getting entirely too spacey this semester. A lot of the time, I donapos;t feel like Iapos;m actually experiencing a moment--itapos;s more like Iapos;m watching passively through someone elseapos;s eyes. Fortunately, this most often happens when Iapos;m bored at work and not when Iapos;m at class or doing other important things. Probably itapos;s just a sign of being tired and busy.

Sorry for the obsessive posting about being busy lately. Itapos;s just a very new thing for me in my rather dull life. So, yeah. The end.

* Although, really, itapos;s not a very significant reason to want to attend grad school. Itapos;s just a thought, mostly.
